Travel insurance

Travel insurance can help with specified unexpected events away from home, including medical emergencies or trip disruption. It is destination- and policy-specific, so read the wording before you travel.

Prioritise emergency medical cover

Check the medical limit, emergency assistance process, evacuation terms, deductible, and any destination requirements. For a medical emergency, contact the insurer’s assistance service as soon as it is safe to do so.

Read exclusions before booking

Pre-existing conditions, high-risk activities, alcohol or substance-related incidents, and travel against advice may be limited or excluded. Visa, airline, and university requirements are separate from insurance cover.

Trip disruption is conditional

Cancellation, delay, missed connection, and baggage benefits usually depend on a listed event, evidence, limits, and timely notice. Keep receipts and confirmations.

Before you leave

Save the policy certificate and emergency-assistance number offline. Tell a travel companion where to find them.

  • Check countries, travel dates, and per-trip duration.
  • Read medical, baggage, and cancellation limits.
  • Carry emergency contacts and document copies.
